The following itinerary provides an outline of our trip intentions, but some activities may be adjusted a little. You will be provided with a full welcome pack including a detailed itinerary closer to our departure date.
September 19th: On arrival at Keflavik international airport, you'll be met by a representative from GOOD Travel and taken to Blue Lagoon. We recommend arriving into Keflavik around midday to give you time to soak in the thermal waters and wash away your journey. In the evening, we'll have a special welcome dinner and trip briefing overlooking the Blue Lagoon. Here we stay at the gorgeous Silica Hotel!
September 20th: We'll begin the day by traveling for a couple of hours along the coast, taking in the beautiful sites and stopping for lunch along the way. We'll also visit the impressive Skógafoss waterfall today! Today you will also enjoy an immersive and self-exploratory workshop led by Baron. Here your accommodation is in the beautiful countryside.
September 21st: We'll take a short drive to Sólheimajökull for a glacier hike! We'll hike through ice sculptures, crevasses, streams, and rock formations. No words can do this experience justice. We'll then drive for a couple of hours to Solheimar eco-village for a much-deserved dinner! This eco-village is a world renowned sustainable community known for its artistic and ecological initiatives.
September 22nd: After a leisurely breakfast, we'll head to a 'secret' lagoon for a dip! After lunch at a local farm, we'll visit the iconic Gullfoss waterfall as well as the Geysir Hot Spring Area with boiling mud pits, exploding geysers and the lively Strokkur which spouts water into the air every few minutes.
September 23rd: Today we'll explore Þingvellir national park, a site of historical, cultural, and geological significance. We'll then head to Reykjavik, the country's capital and largest city for a special farewell dinner.
September 24th: This is an optional additional day (at an extra cost) in Reykjavik, giving you more time to explore. If you don't have time to stick around, you could leave Iceland on this day. We recommend booking an afternoon flight, to give you a little time to take in the city. If you are able to stay for an extra night, this will give you the opportunity to enjoy some independent sight-seeing in Iceland's capital city.
September 25th: Farewell Iceland! If you decided to take the additional day add on, then you will fly out today. It will be a sad goodbye but you'll take a host of memories and new knowledge with you!
This trip has been carefully designed to ensure that the local community, environment and economy benefit from your visit. We'll be staying in a range of sustainable accommodations, including a farm in rural Iceland, an eco-village and a hotel with a strong focus on sustainability. Our tours will all be organised by companies that share our values for social, environmental and economic GOOD. We have also carefully selected the restaurants where we will eat to ensure we are supporting local farmers as well as enjoying delicious farm-to-table meals. In addition, $100 of your trip fee will go directly towards supporting a project at Solheimar eco-village. You will have the opportunity to stay at the village and learn about their work during this trip.
The trip will be led by Baron Wright. This will be Baron's third time leading The Iceland Experience trip infusing creative thinking, inspirational reflections, and self-celebration as a way to give back to yourself as you give to others.
